How to prevent dark scarring after picking a scab?

August 23rd, 2011 · 3 Comments · Skin whitening

Okay, well I popped a pimple a few days ago and it formed a scab. I peeled off the scab because it was starting to fall off. Now, I see a pink spot as if the skin wasn’t healed all the way yet. What should I do to protect it and prevent a discoloration? Every time I pick a scab, the area always turn dark or into a scar and is very noticable. Would Neosporin help? Vitamin E Oil? Any home remedies? Tips? Thanks!

Do not pick the scab. But it happens sometimes that you brush up against something and the scab comes off. I find that rubbing vaseline into it several times a day for a week helps to lessen the scarring and darkening. Both Neosporin and Vitamin E oil help with this problem.

don’t pick scabs. They will fall off on their own leaving no scarring.

Yes, you should have left the scab on a little longer. I can’t wait for them to heal either sometimes. You could put some neosporin or Vit. E on the spot. It probably will help. A&D ointment works also.
